Outreach Program

The BCAMSC Outreach program was developed to increase involvement of students, teachers, parents, and administrators in surrounding communities in learning and teaching mathematics and science.  In addition to the development of the K-7 Science Unit Program, Outreach develops and offers a variety of services to enhance instruction and learning in the classroom:

  • Professional Development – Provide curriculum workshop opportunities, in-services for science units, preparing for the M-Step, teaching inquiry-based science, literacy integration, and using technology in the classroom. All teachers using the BCAMSC Units must meet the professional development requirements for each unit before implementation in the classroom.
  • Leadership Development - effectively train leaders in science, mathematics, and technology education and support principals and other administrators. Collaborate with subject area professional associations and support statewide efforts.
  • Curriculum Support - assist school districts with alignment and implementation of all math, science, and technology curricula.
  • Student Services - in-class programs, after-school sessions, summer STEM camps, support for research, support for special investigations, and periodic problem solving sessions.
  • Community Involvement - effectively work with area museums, libraries, nature centers, outdoor education centers, businesses, professionals, K-12 educators, and colleges/universities to enhance curriculum.
  • Resource Clearinghouse - provide science units, reference materials, and science equipment to school districts throughout the state.
